Idaho: Land of Opportunity!
|
Although 63 percent of Idaho is public land, managed by the federal government,
31 percent of Idaho land is privately owned. This is good news for individuals who
would like to own a piece of land for their home, business or pleasure and yet still
have the great outdoors right out their window!
With a population of less than 1.5 million people, Idahoans could spread out across
the state and fit just 17 people in each square mile! Of course, some of these people
would be in one of the 2000 plus lakes in our state, where I'm sure they would be
quite happy enjoying water sports, fishing or just enjoying the surrounding beauty.

What is Idaho Land Used For?

Idaho truly is the land of recreation! Whether you like skiing, snowboarding or
mountain biking, Idaho has the mountain ranges to make these sports easily accessible
from all over the state. If you enjoy hiking, hunting or fishing, living in Idaho
makes it possible for you to still own a piece of land with all of these activities
right out your front door.
Idaho is a great place for business where oppurtunities
are abundant. Idaho is ranked 6th in the nation of top states for business by Forbes
and 3rd for our economic climate. Boise, our capital city is ranked the second best
city in the nation for business and careers.
Of Idaho’s 82,747 square miles of land,
11,900,000 acres, or 22 percent, is farmland. Idaho is a the nation's largest producer
of potatoes and winter peas. Even though our resource-based industries, such as
agriculture, mining and forest products contribute heavily to Idaho's economy, we
are also experiencing growth in high-tech, business to business, information services
and other non-traditional sectors.

What Type of Land is in Idaho?
|
The land in Idaho is incredibly diverse with mountains, lakes, rivers, forests, deserts
with sand dunes, plains and canyons. Idaho has more whitewater than any other state
in the lower 48. Near Lewiston on the border of Idaho and Oregon is Hells Canyon,
which has the deepest river gorge on the North American Continent, deeper than the
Grand Canyon. In the heart of Southern Idaho is Shoshone Falls, which has a deeper
drop than Niagara Falls.
Further south is the City of Rocks, a unique geologic area of land which became
a landmark in 1843 for California-bound emigrants. A few granite pinnacles and monoliths
are in excess of sixty stories tall and their smooth granite faces offer exceptional
rock climbing. Today, over 500 climbing routes have been identified and climbers
from around the world come to Idaho just to experience the City of Rocks.

What I Love About Idaho Land
|
For me and my family, there is no other place on earth we would
rather live. Southern
Idaho is where I was born, and the good Lord willing, where I will die. The land
here is so beautiful and always calls me home no matter where I travel.
